Porvenir Street in Jerez has undergone a significant intervention by the City Council, culminating in the planting of new trees and the improvement of its infrastructure. This action is part of a broader plan for the conservation and maintenance of public roads, as well as adapting them to accessibility regulations.
As part of this initiative, new tree pits have been created, six old stumps removed, and twelve liquidambar trees planted. This deciduous species, known for its medium to large size, will not only beautify the surroundings but also help create cooler and more pleasant microclimates in the area during the summer months, thanks to its ability to grow large and stabilize the soil with its extensive roots.
The works on Porvenir Street are framed within the Cádiz Marcha Plan, promoted by the Provincial Council of Cádiz, and primarily aimed at sidewalk remodeling and accessibility improvement. The introduction of these new plant species complements the work carried out, providing significant ornamental value due to the vibrant color changes of their leaves in autumn.
This action adds to other tree plantings recently carried out by the City Council in its commitment to making Jerez a greener and more sustainable city. These interventions include replacing trees on Santo Domingo Street with bitter orange and Japanese apple trees, as well as plantings in the Torrox lagoon and other areas close to social and educational groups.
