The left-wing coalition Por Andalucía has successfully finalized its candidate list for Cádiz in the Andalusian elections on May 17th, following intense negotiations that resulted in Podemos securing the third and sixth positions.

The list for the Andalusian Parliament will be headed by Esperanza Gómez, spokesperson for Sumar in Andalusia and a professor of Constitutional Law. Although from Seville and with limited prior connection to the province of Cádiz, Gómez was assigned to this constituency after Antonio Maíllo, Por Andalucía's candidate for President of the Junta and an IU member, took the number one spot for Seville.
In the second position on the ballot is Jorge Rodríguez, provincial coordinator for IU and former mayor of Trebujena. IU members had proposed Rodríguez as the lead candidate, though ultimately without success. The third spot is held by Marina Liberato of Podemos, who was the party's candidate for Mayor of Cádiz in 2023.
A notable name on the list is Juan Antonio Delgado, a civil guard from Podemos and an Andalusian parliamentarian in the last legislature, who has been placed in the sixth position. This follows his decision not to lead the Por Andalucía list in Jaén, which was a key concession made by IU and Sumar to the party of Pablo Iglesias, Irene Montero, and Ione Belarra.
The Por Andalucía candidacy in Cádiz comprises seven representatives from IU, three from Sumar, two from Podemos, one from Equo, one from Alternativa Republicana, and one from Iniciativa del Pueblo Andaluz. The list is closed by Inmaculada Nieto, from Algeciras, who has served as an IU Andalusian parliamentarian continuously since 2012.
In the 2022 elections, Por Andalucía secured one seat in Cádiz, which was won by Juan Antonio Delgado. For this election, the coalition aims to retain at least that seat, estimating they will need between 30,000 and 35,000 votes, depending on final turnout. Other objectives include surpassing Adelante Andalucía in the province and aspiring to a second seat, though the latter is considered a more challenging goal.
