The School Sports programs, spearheaded by the Diputación de Cádiz, have been met with significant enthusiasm, with more than 4,300 students signing up for various activities. The primary goal of this initiative is to encourage sports participation and the adoption of healthy lifestyles among the younger population across the province.
The application period, which commenced on April 13, saw 115 requests within just 24 hours, quickly exhausting the available spots for three out of the four offered categories. Following a review of requirements, centers have been assigned to participate in 86 activities, including 30 in multi-adventure, 20 in sailing, and 12 in bike education, all of which are now fully booked.
Despite the high demand, there are still places available for the Adaptive Sports program, specifically designed for special education centers and dedicated classrooms within schools and institutes. This program aims to promote recreational and grassroots sports among students with special needs, offering activities such as hiking, paddle surf, orienteering, survival dynamics, adventure games, introductory surfing, and horse riding. These activities take place in the province's iconic natural settings, including the Bahía de Cádiz and Sierra de Grazalema parks, La Algaida pine forest, Los Toruños park, Arcos reservoir beach, and La Cuadra equestrian school.
Applications for the Adaptive Sports program can be submitted through the Diputación de Cádiz's electronic headquarters, under the 'Sports' thematic area, and the deadline remains open as long as places are available. The activities will be conducted in two periods: the first currently underway until June 30, and the second between September 21 and November 30, facilitating sports practice in the rich natural environment of the province while promoting its care and respect.
