The Governing Council of the Junta de Andalucía has sanctioned an aid package amounting to 87,501,585 euros, aimed at restoring hydraulic infrastructures and inter-community waterways affected by recent storms. Of this sum, the province of Cádiz will receive 54,565,192 euros, divided between hydraulic infrastructure works (23,624,931 euros) and waterway interventions (30,940,261 euros).

Interventions will focus on the Cádiz reservoir network. Within the Guadalete system, damages will be repaired at the Los Hurones, Guadalcacín, Zahara-El Gastor, Bornos, and Arcos dams, as well as the Guadiaro-Majaceite transfer, with an investment of 8,614,952 euros. In Campo de Gibraltar, 8,308,803 euros will be allocated to repair damages at the Charco Redondo, Guadarranque, and La Presilla DI-1 dams, the Almoraima canal, and the Viñuela catchments.

Additionally, in the Barbate system, repairs will be carried out at the Almodóvar dam due to a hillside landslide on the access road, and on the infrastructures of the Celemín and Barbate dams, with a budget of 2,312,797 euros. Furthermore, the construction or reconstruction of transport canals in Guadalcacín and the Costa Noroeste and Left Bank of the Guadalete is planned for 4,388,379 euros, along with repairs to infrastructures at the Azud de El Portal.

Storms recorded between November 2025 and February 2026 caused severe flooding and damage in the region. Reservoirs in the province, such as Los Hurones and Guadalcacín, had to undertake significant discharges, with Arcos reaching 700 cubic meters per second. The plan aims to restore hydraulic safety, ensure the proper functioning of strategic infrastructures, and prevent new risks to the population and economic activity.

Emergency actions in waterways extend to other Andalusian provinces, with 20 interventions in total. Almería will receive 3,203,486 euros, Granada 3,731,083 euros, and Málaga 16,566,327 euros, adding to the 30,940,261 euros for waterway repairs in Cádiz.
