The Cádiz Provincial Council, through its Department of Social Services, Families, and Equality, has formalized a total of 28 agreements with 25 entities for the 2026 fiscal year. These agreements will enable the provision of places in specialized centers for the elderly and individuals with disabilities within the province.
The president of the Provincial Council, Almudena Martínez del Junco, accompanied by the deputy for Social Services, Families, and Equality, Paula Conesa, explained that the total projected investment amounts to 5,597,545 euros, representing a 5.8 percent increase compared to the previous year. These agreements ensure the funding of 224 care places, a 4.6 percent rise from 2025.
Almudena Martínez emphasized that these actions "are guaranteeing rights and well-being for people who need them in our territory, and we are going to improve the quality of life for these elderly and disabled individuals and their families." She also highlighted the contribution to combating "unwanted loneliness" and the positive impact on employment, particularly for women, in the sector.
For her part, Paula Conesa stated that these agreements are crucial for many users to afford places they could not otherwise afford, thus preventing social exclusion. "We are talking about people, and we must prioritize those individuals who do not understand deadlines or timeframes but are waiting for these resources and assistance," she affirmed, adding that "we implement policies with heart."
Of the 25 beneficiary entities, four are town councils: Villamartín, Alcalá del Valle, El Gastor, and Setenil. Specifically, 16 agreements have been formalized for the care of individuals with disabilities, funding 146 places with an investment of 3,858,976 euros. For the care of the elderly, 12 agreements have been signed, providing 78 specialized places with an allocation of 1,738,569 euros.
These agreements strengthen the collaboration between the Cádiz Provincial Council and social entities to ensure specialized care for individuals in situations of dependency or with specific support needs.
