Cádiz Cathedral will host a concert dedicated to Spanish Baroque music on Monday, June 1st, in celebration of Corpus Christi, heralding the revival of the historic 'Seises'.

The Holy Cathedral Church of Cádiz will host a special concert on Monday, June 1st, at 8:00 PM, titled 'Qué música divina' (What Divine Music). The event is dedicated to Spanish Baroque music in commemoration of the Corpus Christi feast. The Real Capilla del Pópulo (Royal Chapel of El Pópulo) will perform works by composers such as Pedro Rabasa, Sebastián Durón, Juan Hidalgo, and Juan Domingo Vidal y Losada, many of whom are historically linked to the music of the Cádiz Cathedral.
The performance will be delivered by the Real Capilla del Pópulo, a group specializing in historical music. The ensemble includes Jorge Enrique García Ortega as musical director and viola da gamba player; Sandra Massa Santos on organ and basso continuo; and the voices of Andrea Ramírez and Sara Fernández (sopranos), Bruno Campelo (alto), and Félix Iván Martínez (tenor).
This recital holds special significance as it precedes the revival of one of the city's unique musical traditions: the historic 'Seises' child singers of Cádiz. This tradition, documented for centuries in the Cathedral, will once again be part of the Corpus celebrations, thanks to the efforts of the Escolanía Micrologus, part of Bravissimo Music Lab.
The recovery of the 'Seises' represents a significant step forward in preserving and valuing Cádiz's cultural and musical heritage, reinforcing the connection between the Cathedral and one of the most emblematic expressions of its liturgical history.
Admission to the concert is free on a first-come, first-served basis, offering locals and visitors the chance to enjoy a repertoire of great artistic merit in one of the city's most iconic heritage sites.
The work of the Escolanía Micrologus, a choral project by Bravissimo Music Lab—a music education center focused on practical learning and shared artistic experience—will be instrumental in the revival of the 'Seises'. Through this choir, children and young people develop their vocal and musical training, contributing to the preservation and recovery of musical traditions linked to Cádiz's cultural heritage.
