Cornejo, who leads the socialist list in the province for the upcoming May 17 elections, spoke for the first time about the events of last Friday. During that day, the party's candidate, María Jesús Montero, expressed her preference for Fernando López Gil as the top candidate, while the general secretary of the PSOE in Cádiz, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, supported Cornejo.
Friday was marked by tension, with López Gil threatening to withdraw from the list if he was not placed first. Ultimately, the former Minister of Finance conceded, and López Gil was included as number three on the ballot.
“"The PSOE is a democratic party, one that speaks, that dialogues, and that is united from this moment on."
This Sunday, Cornejo also participated in a demonstration in defense of public healthcare, organized by the Mareas Blancas. There, he highlighted the party's commitment to the citizens and healthcare professionals of the province, who are denouncing the collapse, dismantling, and privatization of the system by the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno.
Looking ahead to the May 17 elections, Cornejo emphasized that the public faces a crucial choice: between the continuation of Moreno Bonilla's policies, which, according to him, dismantle public healthcare, or María Jesús Montero's push to strengthen it and increase the number of healthcare professionals.
