The festival opens this Tuesday at the Parador de Cádiz with flutist María Toro, who blends Galician classical tradition with influences from Madrid's flamenco-jazz, the Swiss contemporary scene, New York jazz, and Rio de Janeiro's popular music, having collaborated with artists such as Hermeto Pascoal and Chano Domínguez.
On Wednesday, the Baluarte de la Candelaria will host Mádé Kuti & The Movement. This artist, who has toured Africa and the world, continues the significant legacy of afrobeat.
Thursday's program will feature a double concert: Trinidad Jiménez 5tet will open with their 'Raíz Sureste' project, a journey through the sounds of flamenco from Levante to Málaga. They will be followed by Julián Sánchez 5tet with 'Los Sonidos de Miles Davis', a tribute commissioned by the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance.
The organization highlights that the following days raise the bar with Gretchen Parlato presenting 'The Wise Ones', co-produced with Alan Hampton. The next day, Cuban artist Roberto Fonseca, a Grammy nominee and honored by France, will bring 'La Gran Diversión', a tribute to the legendary Cabane Cubaine cabaret.
On July 26th, Senegalese artist Momi Maiga will close the main program with 'Kairo', an album awarded Best Album of the Year at the Enderrock Awards 2025. Cádiz will serve as a prelude to his anticipated live debut in Senegal.
Furthermore, the nights at the Baluarte will extend until two in the morning with jam sessions and DJ sets by Calder On Hi-Fi, including the Fallam Sessions Cycle by Trío Verbist, Galiana y Sáinz, dedicated to Manuel de Falla on the 150th anniversary of his birth.
