The new Board of Directors of the Extramuros Merchants' Association (ACEX) was established on March 16. This team, which currently has a hundred members, faces the challenge of significantly increasing merchant participation in the entity over the next four years.
“"There are many more premises in Extramuros than in the city center, so it's important to reach more people."
To achieve this goal, the association is developing a project that includes the renovation of its website. This platform will allow customers to view products from associated businesses and make reservations. The initiative seeks to integrate both new businesses run by young entrepreneurs and traditional establishments, facilitating their access to digital tools and social media.
In addition to digitalization, a system of discounts, offers, and cumulative gifts with purchases will be implemented, encouraging customer loyalty. The organization of activities will also be a fundamental pillar, with two major events planned for Ana Orantes Square, although details will remain undisclosed for now.
One of the main challenges for the association lies in the geographical dispersion of its members, who range from the Avenida to the Paseo Marítimo. This characteristic makes customer loyalty difficult, unlike the city center, where the concentration of businesses is higher. The new website aims to overcome this barrier, allowing customers to find what they are looking for without having to travel long distances.
The association advocates for the street commerce model, highlighting that, despite the rise of online sales, many consumers still value the experience of seeing, touching, and trying products. A good relationship with the Cádiz City Council is considered essential for organizing events and attracting the public, seeking alliances that benefit merchants.
