The Association of Press of Cádiz (APC) will host this Friday, May 22, a new session of the IV Spanish Journalism Conference 'Periodismo con Ñ'. The event, focused on 'Information Saves Lives. Journalism in Emergency Situations', will bring together three prominent professionals from the sector.
Participants include Modesto Barragán, director and presenter of Canal Sur's 'Andalucía Directo'; Ana Cristina Ramírez, a journalist specializing in meteorological information for Canal Sur TV; and Pilar Limón, Head of Press and Public Relations for the Emergencies 112 Andalucía service. The session will begin at 7:00 PM at the APC headquarters, with free entry until full capacity.
The debate will focus on the fundamental role of media and public information services during crises, where speed and rigor can save lives. The negative impact of hoaxes and disinformation will also be addressed, especially in the age of social media.
Recent major emergencies in Andalusia, such as the floods in the Sierra de Cádiz or the railway accident in Adamuz, will be discussed to analyze the coordination between journalists, administrations, and emergency services.
Modesto Barragán has an extensive career in Andalusian public radio and television, directing 'Andalucía Directo' since 2010. Ana Cristina Ramírez is known for her work in meteorological information on Canal Sur TV. Pilar Limón, with over two decades of experience, coordinates communication for 112 Andalucía and received the Medal for Merit in Civil Protection in Andalusia in 2022.
The 'Periodismo con Ñ' Conferences, organized by the APC, aim to bring professional journalism closer to citizens and advocate for the importance of free and quality information. Sessions are broadcast live on the APC's YouTube channel, with sponsorship from the Provincial Council of Cádiz, the Junta de Andalucía, and the City Council of Cádiz.
