The election day in the province of Cádiz for the 2026 regional elections has concluded, giving way to the vote count. A total of 1,003,938 residents of Cádiz had the opportunity to exercise their right to vote at the 1,547 polling stations distributed throughout the province. Added to this figure are 34,237 residents living abroad with the right to vote.
In the 2022 regional elections, the People's Party (PP) was the most voted force, securing 8 out of the 15 seats up for grabs in the Andalusian parliament, followed by the PSOE with 3 representatives. Vox obtained 2 deputies, while Adelante Andalucía and Por Andalucía each secured 1 seat.
The eight municipalities with the largest electoral roll, which account for nearly 70% of the total voters, are crucial for the final outcome. Jerez de la Frontera leads the list with 172,174 voters, followed by Algeciras (93,234) and Cádiz capital (93,195). They are followed by El Puerto de Santa María, Chiclana, and San Fernando, with over 70,000 electors, and La Línea and Sanlúcar with more than 50,000.
In the 2022 elections, the PP won in most of these key municipalities, with the PSOE as the second force. Notably, in the capital city, Adelante Andalucía surpassed Vox for third place.
The initial vote count data, with 5% of ballots tallied, indicates a trend similar to 2022, with the PP obtaining 6 seats, the PSOE 4, Vox 2, Adelante Andalucía 2, and Por Andalucía 1. As the scrutiny progresses, the results are consolidating, with the PP regaining a seat and Por Andalucía losing one as over 20% of the votes are counted.
