The Popular Party in Andalusia has not clarified whether José Ignacio Landaluce, mayor of Algeciras and former party member, will be eligible for re-election in 2027, while the provincial PSOE denounces an "unequal" and "sectarian" distribution of subsidies by the Provincial Council.

The Andalusian Popular Party maintains uncertainty regarding José Ignacio Landaluce, the mayor of Algeciras, who voluntarily resigned his party membership in January following a dismissed harassment complaint. The mayor himself recently reiterated that no open judicial proceedings exist against him and that previous initiatives have been dismissed by the courts. Regarding a potential candidacy for the 2027 municipal elections, Landaluce has stated he will respect the party leadership's decision, currently focusing on municipal management and project execution.
During a press conference, the general secretary of the PP in Andalusia, Antonio Repullo, avoided specific details about candidate names, stating that the current time is for "taking stock" and analyzing recent electoral results. However, he clarified that decisions on candidates in large municipalities like Algeciras rest with the national and regional party leadership, in coordination with provincial directives. The selection process will begin with smaller municipalities, followed by those over 40,000 inhabitants, and concluding with cities exceeding 100,000.
Meanwhile, the provincial president of the PP in Cádiz, Bruno García, urged the Spanish Government to prioritize crucial issues for the province such as housing, security, and infrastructure. He called for the resolution of key projects like the AP-4, the Nudo de Tren Caminos, and rail transport, which are essential for the daily lives of citizens and tourism. On security matters, he demanded the Declaration of a Zone of Special Singularity to support the Civil Guard given the current situation in the province. Regarding housing, he criticized the central government's lack of execution after seven years in power, demanding "fewer promises and more implementation."

"We need a Government of Spain that dedicates itself to exactly that: Security, Infrastructure, and housing, as pillars of action that a government sensitive to the province of Cádiz should have, and not dedicate its time to the things it does."

Concurrently, the provincial PSOE has accused the Provincial Council of Cádiz of maintaining an "unequal" and "sectarian" distribution of subsidies to municipalities. The socialist spokesperson in the Council, Javier Pizarro, denounced a lack of transparency in the application of criteria, leading to "comparative grievances" between municipalities governed by the PP and La Línea 100x100 (reportedly receiving 80% of aid) and those governed by the PSOE (receiving 20%). Pizarro highlighted imbalances between towns like El Puerto, Jerez, or La Línea de la Concepción compared to San Fernando or Chiclana, citing official Provincial Council documentation, and called for "transparency, objectivity, and fair distribution."
