After the 2025-26 season, where newly promoted AD Ceuta achieved a commendable eleventh position with 61 points, solidifying their place in the second tier, the club has decided to commit to its coach's continuity. José Juan Romero has been a key figure in this success, leading the team in its return to LaLiga Hypermotion, a division the club had not competed in for 45 years.
During the matches against Cádiz CF, the Ceuta team secured a goalless draw at the Nuevo Mirandilla and a clear 3-1 victory at the Alfonso Murube. After one of these encounters, Romero showed a gesture of sportsmanship by consoling Cádiz CF players on the field who were visibly affected by the defeat, notably offering support to Iza Carcelén.
The new agreement extends the coach's contract, originally set to expire in 2027, until June 2029. This decision comes amidst interest from other clubs in securing the services of the Andalusian coach, who joined Ceuta in 2019.
Since his arrival, José Juan Romero has been instrumental in the team's promotion from Segunda RFEF to Primera RFEF and, ultimately, to professional football. Previously, he also achieved promotions with CD Gerena and CD Eldense.
