The agreement includes a clause for an additional season's extension if a series of unspecified objectives are met by the Cádiz club.
Damián Rodríguez, born in Ponteareas on March 17, 2003, operates as a defensive midfielder. He was a key player in Racing de Santander's promotion to the top flight, playing 21 matches in the second half of last season. Previously, after developing in Celta's youth ranks, he made 30 appearances in the top division.
In addition to his disruptive role in midfield, the player possesses good vision and ball circulation skills, fitting the playing model favored by coach Imanol Idiakez.
The new yellow-clad player will join the team's training dynamics, although he was not part of the squad for the friendly match against Tenerife. He will remain in Cádiz to work at El Rosal and will be available to debut after completing several training sessions.
Damián Rodríguez may feature in the friendly against Granada, scheduled for next Wednesday, August 5, at Montecastillo (Jerez de la Frontera), to help him adapt to the team ahead of the championship's imminent start.
Following his arrival, Rodríguez made his first statements as a Cádiz player, as reported by the club's official channels: "I am very happy to join Cádiz CF and I hope to see you soon, fans."
