The province of Cádiz registered 2,215 divorces in 2025, a slight increase compared to the previous year, with most ruptures resolved by mutual agreement, according to INE data.

The province of Cádiz maintains similar levels of marital dissolutions in 2025 compared to the previous year, despite a slight upward trend in divorces. According to the annual data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), Cádiz recorded 2,215 divorces in 2025, compared to 2,199 in 2024, a difference of only fifteen cases.
The majority of these ruptures were resolved consensually. Specifically, 1,577 dissolutions occurred without litigation, while 638 went to court. The trend of agreements between parties also remains stable, with 1,577 cases resolved by mutual agreement in 2025, compared to 1,541 the previous year.
On the other hand, contentious divorces, those requiring judicial intervention, saw a slight decrease. 638 cases were registered in the province, twenty fewer than in 2024 and a hundred fewer than in 2023. After the pandemic, a notable peak of 735 contentious cases had been observed.
Regarding the duration of relationships, most couples who divorced had been together for more than ten years (1,412 cases). This is followed by marriages of 2 to 9 years of relationship (729) and those with less than two years (74). These figures are very similar to those of 2024.
Separations, meanwhile, continue to decline. In 2025, 88 couples opted for this mutual agreement route, compared to 129 in 2024. Eight cases were resolved through the courts. The majority of these separations also stemmed from long-term relationships, and half of them had no children.
At the regional level, Andalusia led the number of divorces in Spain during 2025, with 14,718 cases, a 1% increase from the previous year. Separations in the autonomous community decreased by 12.8%. In the country as a whole, 83,683 marital breakups were recorded, a 2.7% decrease from 2024.
The average age of people divorcing continues to rise: 49.1 years for men and 46.6 for women in 2025, compared to 46.7 and 44.2 in 2016. The predominant age group for divorce is between 40 and 49 years old.
