The town of Chiclana, in the province of Cádiz, is not classified as a “Danger Zone” and therefore is not legally obliged to have a specific fire plan. However, the City Council has decided to promote this document as part of the update of its municipal emergency plans.
This initiative complements the review of the Local Territorial Emergency Plan, the approval of the Tsunami Risk Plan, and the Heat Plan for high temperatures. The Municipal Civil Protection Delegation is now focusing on this new plan to strengthen planning and improve response capacity to potential fires, especially in forest areas or near residential centers.
“"The objective is to strengthen planning and improve response capacity to potential fires, especially in forest areas or near residential centers."
The plan's development includes coordination with other administrations and specialized services. Recently, municipal representatives participated in a training session at the Government Delegation of the Junta de Andalucía in Cádiz, alongside officials from the INFOCA device and Emergencias 112 Andalucía.
The new plan gains special relevance after the fire recorded in July 2025 in the Molino Viejo area, which highlighted the need to strengthen coordination mechanisms. In the coming weeks, the City Council will conduct a drill to evaluate the operational readiness of municipal services and coordination with regional forces.
The Local Fire Plan will detail action procedures, delineate risk areas, organize human and material resources, and establish information protocols for the population. It will also include preventive measures and recommendations for citizens, such as cleaning private plots and prohibiting unauthorized burning. Citizen collaboration is essential to minimize risks, especially during months of higher danger.
