The port of Cadiz today welcomes the inaugural call of the luxury cruise ship 'Celebrity Xcel', arriving with over 3,000 passengers on board, marking a significant event in the city's cruise season.

The Port Authority of Cadiz anticipates a record-breaking year for cruise ship calls, with a forecast of 378 arrivals, the highest figure in its history. To date, in 2026, 86 calls have already been registered, and projections are expected to be met. Of these, twelve correspond to vessels visiting the capital for the first time, including the 'Celebrity Xcel'.
This impressive vessel, built in France by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyards, belongs to Celebrity Cruises, a premium cruise line integrated into Royal Caribbean Group. The 'Celebrity Xcel' is the fifth and final ship in the Edge series, launched late last year, and is distinguished by its luxurious services and exclusive experiences.
Among the amenities offered on board are 24-hour butler services, eco-friendly bath products, in-room fitness equipment, and twice-daily cleaning service. Additionally, it features a diverse range of staterooms, including suites with up to two bathrooms, living areas, dressing rooms, and private terraces with pools.
The onboard offerings are complemented by swimming pools, a spa, shops, entertainment areas, a theater, a casino, and over twenty restaurants, bars, and buffets. Notably, it features an exclusive menu by chef Daniel Boulud, recognized by the Forbes Travel Guide. The 'Celebrity Xcel' represents the evolution of cruise lines towards personalized luxury experiences, transforming cruise ships into true floating cities.
The 'Celebrity Xcel' will only be at the Cadiz dock for a brief period, from seven in the morning until five in the afternoon, before setting sail for Lisbon. This stop is part of an eleven-night itinerary that includes destinations such as Barcelona, Cadiz, Funchal, Tangier, and Palma de Mallorca.
