The work, carried out with a subsidy from the Provincial Council of Cádiz, aimed to improve the physical organization of the collections, establish uniform technical criteria, and prepare the collection for future automated cataloging using the AbsysNet system.
Tasks performed include reorganizing collections by knowledge areas, removing duplicate copies, standardizing the shelving system, preparing reusable bibliographic records, and adapting the space for the implementation of an integrated library management system.
The process was developed progressively, reviewing the collection, thematically classifying works, identifying duplicates, designing a uniform shelving system, and obtaining records in MARC format to streamline cataloging.
