“"There are two feelings: pride and responsibility. Pride in the fact that the proclamation of the glories will be given by an active member of the glory brotherhoods, which I have always been, first as a lay brother and currently as the elder brother of Rocío. And at the same time, responsibility because, of course, I also know that the brothers of the glories expect a lot because they expect an exaltation of the glories of Mary as it should be."

The Glory Brotherhoods of Cadiz are experiencing a moment of effervescence and renewed roots in the city, according to a Cadiz confraternity member who will be the crier for the Glories of Cadiz 2026.
The Teatro del Títere will host the proclamation of the Glories for the first time, an event that marks the beginning of a period of celebrations for the brotherhoods. The crier, an active member of these confraternities, has expressed his pride and responsibility in exalting the figure of the Virgin Mary.
The crier seeks to offer a deeper vision of the importance of the Virgin Mary as an intermediary on the path to Christ, presenting her as a beacon, guide, and port to turn to. Although the glory brotherhoods will have their space, the main focus will be the exaltation of the time of glory and the Marian figure.
The current situation of the Glory Brotherhoods in Cadiz is perceived as very healthy, with a awakening of their roots in the city. Although the penitence brotherhoods usually have more visibility, the glory ones have numerous crowned images and are adapting to new times, incorporating good practices and adding the support of the local administration and the Council of Brotherhoods.
The change of venue for the proclamation to the Teatro del Títere has been a very wise decision, long demanded by the brotherhoods. This space, with a capacity for almost 300 people, offers a solemnity and a scenography more suitable for a proclamation, overcoming the limitations of a church in terms of worship and activity.
For the crier, the Glories of Cadiz are fully enjoyed after the feast of Pentecost and the return from Rocío. Among his most special moments are the appointment on July 16 with the Virgen del Carmen, the devotion to the Patroness, the Virgen del Rosario, and the Virgen de la Palma, whom he affectionately refers to as the Chiquitita. These four pillars—Rocío, Carmen, Rosario, and Palma—are fundamental in his confraternity life.
