These facilities, managed by the Regional Ministry of Social Services, Families, and Equality through the Andalusian Institute for Women (IAM), are part of a network that assisted a total of 1,130 people across Andalusia during the same period. The overall figure represents a slight increase of 1.2% compared to the previous year, according to official data.
Emergency centers accommodated the largest number of users, with 746 individuals, of whom 469 were women and 277 were minors. Hostels provided shelter to 346 people (171 women and 175 children), and supervised apartments served 38 individuals (20 women and 18 minors).
The shelter network operates across all eight Andalusian provinces. Cádiz assisted 173 people, while Almería recorded 111, Córdoba 121, Huelva 74, Jaén 94, Málaga 144, and Seville 229. In Granada, assistance was provided to 96 women and 88 minors.
Concurrently, minors residing in these centers are participating in a summer program scheduled to run until September 6. This initiative, which began on June 22, offers approximately fifty activities divided into creative, educational, sports, cooperative, and recreational blocks.
The program includes workshops on gardening, photography, crafts, and puppet making. Educational activities feature reading clubs, science and English workshops, and sessions focused on learning and expressing feelings. Sports and cooperative proposals encompass water games, family yoga, and team-building activities, promoting psychomotor development and group work.
The program, executed by a multidisciplinary team, promotes values such as equality, respect, empathy, and diversity. It also incorporates dynamics for emotional expression, conflict resolution, self-esteem, and autonomy. Similar activities are organized during the summer, Christmas, and Easter holidays.
The Andalusian reception network offers around 500 places and is structured into three levels of care. Emergency centers provide immediate protection and accommodation 24/7 to women fleeing gender-based violence. Hostels offer temporary housing and social, psychological, and legal support, while supervised apartments provide independent living spaces for those needing temporary residential solutions.
Comprehensive support also includes educational and social interventions for women, their children, and any accompanying dependents. Access to these resources is facilitated through the Provincial Women's Centers and the dedicated helpline at 900 200 999.
