Rehabilitation works at Genovés Park, the Park Theater (formerly Teatro Pemán), and the Santa Bárbara pergola are underway, aiming to restore these essential spaces for Cádiz's cultural and social life. The total investment amounts to 3,039,208.77 euros, with improvements expected to be visible in the coming months.
Genovés Park, considered the city's grand balcony overlooking the Bay of Cádiz, has undergone a comprehensive renovation with a budget of 463,397 euros. The works, carried out by the company Leasan2007, include improvements to the exterior fencing, landscaped areas, irrigation system, paving, curbs, and urban furniture. New waste bins and benches are also being installed, and the handcrafted wrought iron fence is being replaced.
Regarding the Park Theater, which has been closed since 2008, it is expected to resume cultural activities this coming summer. The company Gruesa SL is in charge of the works, with a budget of 1,634,702 euros. The renovation, which had been abandoned by the previous contractor, required the current government team to rescue the contract for its completion. The adaptation of the stage area has been included, and despite a one-month delay due to winter rains, it is expected to be fully completed by the summer season.
Finally, the Santa Bárbara pergola, which has suffered neglect and vandalism, including two fires in 2020, is being rehabilitated with an investment of 941,109.77 euros, awarded to the company JMI Obras y Reformas. It is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The work includes the renovation of the facade and the creation of new commercial spaces on the ground floor of the viewpoint, intended for culture, hospitality, and local residents, with the aim of revitalizing the area and creating jobs.
