The province of Cádiz is gearing up for Andalusian elections where the emergence of a new political formation, 100x100 Unidos, and the situation of the PSOE, are generating great anticipation and could decisively influence the distribution of seats.

On May 17, the province of Cádiz will witness an intense electoral battle. The emergence of 100x100 Unidos, a territorial party following the success of a municipalist model, has captured the attention of the Andalusian political landscape. Although polls give it little chance of entering the Andalusian Parliament, its presence could significantly alter the final result, taking crucial votes from the PP in its quest for an absolute majority or affecting the margin of other formations such as Vox and Adelante Andalucía.
The 100x100 Unidos party hopes to gain strong support in the Campo de Gibraltar, a region with its own peculiarities due to its relationship with the Rock of Gibraltar. This area, along with other factors, will have significant weight on election day. Among the candidates leading the lists in the province are well-known figures from various political parties.
The PP seeks to consolidate its leadership in Cádiz, following the good results obtained in the 2022 Andalusian elections, where it secured 8 seats, and the reconquest of important city councils in the 2023 municipal elections. It is not ruled out that they may improve their percentage of votes, although some polls lower the expectation to seven seats.
On the other hand, the PSOE faces a delicate situation in the province of Cádiz. Four years ago, it obtained a result of three seats, and is currently going through a significant internal crisis, added to the difficult moment for socialists at the Andalusian level. Falling below this threshold or ranking below other formations would be a significant blow to the party in a province that was historically a socialist stronghold. This weakness of the PSOE is seen as an opportunity by both Vox and Adelante Andalucía, two parties with considerable presence in the territory, despite their ideological differences.
Among the key campaign issues in Cádiz are the situation of the Campo de Gibraltar and the new context surrounding the Rock. Security, especially in relation to the problem of drug trafficking boats and drug trafficking on the Andalusian coasts, has been a central point, given the province's extensive coastline. Likewise, the lack of employment in some municipalities and the management of extreme weather phenomena, such as the torrential rains that affected towns like Grazalema and Jerez, will also influence voters' decisions.
