“"Juanillos is a festival that this Government team has tried to promote, and in recent years, proposals and actions from the City Council itself have been incorporated, as we understand it is a tradition that the people of Cádiz value and one that we must continue to support to ensure its popular backing."

The Cádiz City Council, through its Local Government Board, has given the green light to the regulations for the Juanillos Contest and the subsidy allocated to the Entierro de la Caballa, two emblematic celebrations that mark the beginning and end of summer in the capital of Cádiz.
Despite ongoing efforts to restore beaches after winter storms, the Cádiz city hall is already focusing on planning its summer festivities. The decision, made during the session on Friday, April 10, aims to ensure the continuity of these deeply rooted traditions.
As detailed by José Manuel Cossi, the first deputy mayor, a subsidy of 7,000 euros has been approved for the Entierro de la Caballa. This aid will be granted on a competitive basis through the Festivities department. Traditionally, this gastronomic and carnival event has been organized by the Club Marítimo Gaditano La Caleta.
Furthermore, Cossi also reported the approval of the regulations for the Juanillos Contest. This festival, celebrated on the evening of June 23, symbolizes the start of summer. The contest includes three prizes, worth 1,000, 500, and 300 euros, for participating associations and entities.
