According to the Annual Report on Drugs from the Center for Intelligence against Terrorism and Organized Crime (CITCO), the province of Cádiz seized 75.1 tons of hashish, representing approximately 38% of the total confiscated in Spain. This figure highlights Cádiz's role as a primary entry point for cannabis resin, given its proximity to North Africa and the significance of the Strait of Gibraltar.
The province's prominence is not limited to hashish. Regarding cocaine, 8.3 tons were seized, accounting for nearly one-third of the 25.6 tons confiscated nationwide. This underscores the importance of Cádiz, and particularly the Port of Algeciras, in international routes for the entry and distribution of this substance.
In contrast, marijuana shows a different trend. 848.278 kilograms were seized in Cádiz, representing 8.7% of the national total. Although this figure is lower than that for hashish, it confirms significant activity related to cannabis cultivation and distribution within the province. Notably, while hashish and cocaine seizures decreased by 75% compared to 2024, marijuana seizures increased by approximately 68%.
Police pressure in the province is also substantial. In 2025, 1,019 individuals were arrested for drug-related offenses in Cádiz, equivalent to nearly one in every five arrests nationwide. Furthermore, 16,903 reports were filed, also representing about one-fifth of the Spanish total. However, these figures show a decrease compared to the previous year, with a 26.7% drop in arrests and a 4.9% decrease in reports.
