Cádiz Mayor Bruno García has positively assessed the recent Holy Week, emphasizing the large public turnout and the absence of serious incidents, while preparing for future improvements in collaboration with the brotherhoods.

Bruno García, Mayor of Cádiz, has expressed his satisfaction with this year's Holy Week, highlighting the massive public participation in the streets. The mayor emphasized the commitment to continue improving this festival, declared a National Tourist Interest, through joint work with the Local Council of Brotherhoods and Confraternities, a collaboration that, he noted, has been maintained for years.

"We have had a very good Holy Week, but we want to continue improving it."

Bruno García · Mayor of Cádiz
The mayor extended his gratitude to the Local Council and the brotherhoods of Cádiz for their dedication, which allowed for such a well-attended celebration. He also acknowledged the important social work these entities carry out, providing support to the city's most vulnerable people. He also praised the efforts of municipal workers from various areas, coordinated by the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Maite González, and the Councilor for Brotherhoods and Confraternities, José Manuel Verdulla.
Security and public order were highlighted aspects, with recognition given to the Local Police, National Police, and Civil Protection for their contribution to traffic flow, cleanliness, and the passage of processions, with no serious incidents reported. In the preceding weeks, all requests related to public lighting and obstacle removal were addressed to ensure the smooth running of the events.
In terms of infrastructure, significant improvements were implemented, such as the narrowing of the central area of San Juan de Dios Square, which allowed for a more spectacular passage of the brotherhoods. Additionally, six new box seats were installed in this square, and improvements were made to the official box. A special cleaning plan was activated for the Perdón brotherhood, ensuring the best possible conditions for their penitential station.
The City Council has increased the subsidy for brotherhoods and confraternities by 15,900 euros, reaching a total of 235,900 euros. One of the recent innovations is the advance payment of this aid to the Local Council, allowing brotherhoods to have the necessary funds before their processional outings. The mayor and the Government team also maintained the tradition of visiting the temples of the brotherhoods during Holy Week. A comprehensive analysis of the past edition will be carried out to identify areas for improvement and begin planning for Holy Week 2027.
