The Cádiz City Council has approved the Public Employment Offer (OEP) for 2026, comprising 65 new positions and 27 for internal promotion, aimed at reinforcing municipal areas and the Local Police.

The Local Government Board of the Cádiz City Council has greenlit the Public Employment Offer (OEP) for the 2026 fiscal year. This offer consists of a total of 65 new positions, designed to enhance various municipal areas and services, in addition to 27 internal promotion positions.
The Deputy Mayor for Economic and Administrative Management, Maite González, highlighted that this initiative "represents another step in the government team's commitment to improving public services and strengthening the municipal structure." She emphasized that the current governing team is fulfilling its responsibility by taking on selection processes that the previous administration left unattended.
The offer, reached unanimously with the unions, covers various professional categories, including positions in the Local Police, as well as administrative, technical, and management areas. Six of the positions reserved in this 2026 OPE are designated for individuals with disabilities.
Maite González recalled the Supreme Court's doctrine, which reinforces the mandatory nature of executing public employment offers within a maximum period of three years, necessitating rigorous planning and agile management of selection processes.
The City Council anticipates concluding the year with a total of 334 positions executed. The councilor noted that upon taking office, they found over 220 pending positions from previous years, a lack of planning that is now being rectified. They have successfully executed 99% of these pending processes (from 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022, plus an extraordinary stabilization process), while simultaneously launching new public employment offers (for 2023, 2024, and 2025).
In addition to executing these offers, the City Council has implemented organizational and labor measures to improve the municipal structure and staff conditions, such as career development, remote work implementation, variable productivity, the collective labor agreement, and the Equality Plan.
González stated that an "extraordinary effort is being made to recover lost time and adapt the municipal staff to the city's real needs," operating within a demanding context due to new jurisprudential criteria on maximum execution deadlines for public employment offers. Personnel management is now approached with planning and responsibility to ensure quality public services.
As a demonstration of the situation normalization, on Monday, June 1st, 20 new Local Police officers will be sworn in.
