The match, played on Sunday, April 19, saw the Cádiz side unable to react after falling behind, a recurring issue since last January. Frustration was evident on the pitch at El Molinón Enrique Castro 'Quini' stadium, as desperation gripped the players.
The disciplinary situation was particularly concerning, with six players receiving bookings. All four starting defenders were shown yellow cards: Mario Climent in the 9th minute, Juan Díaz in the 12th, Bojan Kovacevic in the 67th, and Iker Recio in the 86th. They were joined by Yussi Diarra (53rd minute) and Sergio Ortuño (81st).
In Ortuño's case, the midfielder was initially sent off, but the red card was downgraded to a yellow after a VAR review. Nevertheless, this booking marks his fifth of the season, which will lead to a suspension from the Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEFE).
Due to this accumulation of cards, Ortuño will be unavailable for Cádiz CF's next fixture against Unión Deportiva Las Palmas. This match, corresponding to matchday 37 of the championship, is scheduled for Monday, April 27, at the JP Financial Estadio (formerly known as Nuevo Mirandilla).
