The popularly known 'little school' of the Cádiz Carnival begins its second year with the aim of fostering the festival from the grassroots. The initiative, presented by the Cádiz City Council and the University of Cádiz, has the support of the UCA Carnival Chair, the Carnival Cultural Hall, the Cajasol Foundation, and the Cantera Association.
Registration for the 107 free spots will open this Friday, June 12, and will be aimed at children between 8 and 16 years old. One of the main novelties of this edition is the introduction of five specialization modules, which will be added to the introductory module on the Cádiz Carnival.
The new specialization modules include Singing and voices; interpretation of parodies for cuartetos and romanceros; percussion (snare drum and bass drum); and guitar and plucked string instruments such as the bandurria and the lute. The social media channels of the Municipal Carnival School, on Instagram (@escuelacarnavalcádiz) and Facebook, will provide information on all updates.
“"We must work from the grassroots, with the youth, to guarantee the future of the Carnival."
To participate, interested individuals must download the registration form from the cadiz.es website, under the Fiestas Delegation banner. The forms, along with a copy of the minor's ID or family book and a photocopy of the legal guardians' ID, should be submitted at the Fiestas and Carnival Delegation office (Edificio IFEF, Cuesta de las Calesas, n.º 39, 1st Floor) or sent via email to delegacionmunicipal.fiestas@cadiz.es.
“"It is important to work together to make these types of cultural projects a reality."
