The province of Cádiz has welcomed 265 new resident specialists (EIR) who are joining their posts as part of the 2025-26 call. These professionals will integrate into various centers of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), under the Ministry of Health, Presidency, and Emergencies, to complete their training in different branches of Health Sciences.
The new residents are being received at their respective destination centers, where farewell ceremonies are also being held for those concluding their training period. The incorporation takes place in June, adding to training programs that typically last between two and five years depending on the specialty.
By health districts and areas, the Bahía de Cádiz-La Janda District hosts 35 specialists (22 in Family and Community Medicine and 13 in Nursing). The Puerta del Mar University Hospital adds 77 new professionals, while the Puerto Real Hospital receives 43. Within the Health Management Areas, Campo de Gibraltar East incorporates 14, Campo de Gibraltar West welcomes 23, and the Jerez, Costa Noroeste, and Sierra de Cádiz area takes in 73.
The EIR Program is a national training system designed for Health Sciences postgraduates. During their residency, professionals progressively acquire the necessary knowledge to practice their specialty, with the supervision of a principal tutor and the support of the rest of the team.
