The intervention by the Civil Guard in Utrera led to the arrest of a driver who was operating a vehicle with an alcohol level nearly six times the legal maximum. The action was initiated thanks to a citizen's collaboration, who alerted authorities to the situation.
The events began when a witness informed law enforcement that a man, visibly intoxicated, had left a hospitality establishment and proceeded to drive his car. This information allowed for the immediate activation of a search operation to locate the vehicle.
Officers from the Utrera Civil Guard Traffic Detachment managed to intercept the car shortly thereafter. According to official sources, the driver initially failed to comply with the officers' instructions, necessitating a swift intervention to stop the vehicle and prevent potential serious consequences.
Citizen collaboration proved decisive in preventing a possible accident and ensuring road safety.
Upon identification, the individual underwent an alcohol breath test, which yielded a result of 1.67 milligrams per liter of exhaled air. This figure significantly exceeds the legal limit of 0.25 mg/l for general drivers.
The operation concluded with the arrest of the individual as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety. Subsequently, he was brought before judicial authorities after being informed of his rights.
The Civil Guard has reminded the public that exceeding 0.60 mg/l in exhaled air can lead to prison sentences, financial penalties, and the revocation of driving licenses. They also highlighted the importance of citizen cooperation, which in this instance was crucial in preventing a potential accident and ensuring road safety.
