Under the theme proposed by ICOM (International Council of Museums), “Museums uniting a divided world,” the initiative emphasizes the role of these spaces as meeting points for dialogue and understanding among diverse cultures, memories, and identities. The Tourism Delegation of the San Fernando City Council has highlighted the importance of this day in promoting citizen participation and intercultural exchange.
The activities, all free of charge, invite visitors to explore the historical, naval, and social heritage of the locality. Reservations for participation in the various proposals will be available starting Monday, May 11, at 12:00 PM, through the Tourism website.
Among the featured options is a guided tour titled “San Fernando, an open-air museum,” with sessions at 10:30 AM and 6:00 PM, starting from Calle Real, in front of San Romualdo Castle. This walk will allow visitors to discover the city's historical and cultural richness, learning the stories that bring its buildings, streets, and squares to life.
The Naval Museum, located in the old Capitanía (Escaño street, s/n), will open its doors from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, offering visits to the Capitanía Palace every 30 minutes. Additionally, technical demonstrations of the capabilities of the Cristóbal Colón frigate model will be held at 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The Legado de las Cortes Foundation will collaborate with a flight simulator that will allow visitors to operate historical and current aircraft.
