The María Emilia Lira Doll Collection joins the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the City title with a representative exhibition of dolls dressed from the late 19th century. The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, along with deputy mayors Ana González and Francis Salado, visited the exhibition with María Emilia Lira.
A display case in the collection features eight dolls dressed in traditional clothing from the Restoration period in Spain, when King Alfonso XII signed the Royal Decree granting Chiclana the title of City on August 8, 1876. The figures include the King himself, deputy Leopoldo de Alba y Salcedo, the mayor of that time, and various residents of Chiclana, some depicted in vineyard and saltworks labor.
The mayor highlighted that the collection adapts its exhibitions to important events and, on this occasion, pays homage to the 150th anniversary of the City title. He thanked María Emilia Lira and the center's team for their work in promoting the city, its roots, and customs.
Furthermore, the installation of a giant-sized Mariquita Pérez at the corner of Segismundo Moret street and La Vega street was noted, which has tripled visits to the collection. A flamenco figure on the facade of the Wine and Salt Center and the Marín Doll Collection were also mentioned as attractions for visitors.
María Emilia Lira clarified that the exhibition changes are the work of the entire center's team and that they work daily on social media to attract visitors. She added that it is their small contribution to the 150th anniversary of the City title.
