The City Council of El Puerto de Santa María has equipped its Local Police with 75 body cameras, which will be operational starting this Tuesday. This measure is part of the security plan designed for the motorcycle event, an occasion that attracts a large number of visitors and generates intense activity in the city.
The devices, model Transcend Drive Pro Body 10, are personal audio and video cameras capable of high-definition recording, featuring a 160-degree viewing angle and infrared night vision. They offer a minimum autonomy of eight hours and encrypted storage, ensuring the security of the recordings.
The initiative's main goal is to improve the operational capacity of the police force and increase transparency in their actions. Recordings can be used as documentary evidence in judicial and administrative proceedings, providing greater legal protection for both officers and citizens in case of disputes or complaints.
“"The visible presence of the cameras also has a deterrent effect in police interventions, especially in contexts of high concentration of people such as the motorcycle event, when traffic control, citizen security, and coexistence devices are increased."
The equipment, including management software, accessories, and manuals, was delivered to the Local Police Headquarters. Officers have received specific training to ensure proper use in compliance with current regulations. The acquisition was made through a minor supply contract, awarded to an Andalusian company specializing in public security solutions.
The motorcycle event, coinciding with the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit, leads to a significant increase in visitors to El Puerto de Santa María and the entire Bay of Cádiz. This technological reinforcement adds to existing resources to manage one of the city's most important events in terms of public attendance and security and mobility coordination.
