The complaint states that a Citizen Security official allegedly had access to a police application that allows consultation of data for all residents. This information reportedly includes police incidents, investigations, judicial reports, and potentially highly sensitive data.
For SIP-An, this situation could represent a clear violation of data protection regulations. The union collective has indicated that the Transparency Council has already initiated proceedings to investigate the reported facts.
“"Not everything is permissible in politics or public management. Access to personal data cannot become an uncontrolled tool, especially when it involves sensitive information that directly affects citizens' privacy."
The union warns that, if confirmed, such practices would be “unacceptable in a state governed by the rule of law” and demands political accountability if improper data use is proven. They emphasize that the citizens of San Fernando have the right to know who handles their personal information and for what purposes, stressing that transparency and respect for privacy are not optional.
The process is underway, and the competent body will determine whether the City Council acted outside the law in this matter.
