The Chiclana City Council has awarded the company Construcciones UXCAR 97 SL the contracts for adapting the industrial warehouse located next to the Digital HUB to create a new Municipal Training School. This initiative will involve an investment of 1,415,692.01 euros, 85% co-financed by FEDER funds, with the remaining 15% covered by the Council itself.
The intervention is part of the Integrated Action Plan ‘The Flowing City’, under the project ‘Improvement of facilities for social cohesion and economic promotion’. The overall project, utilizing FEDER funds from the 2021-2027 programming period, will allocate over 14 million euros to various projects around the Iro River.
The Chiclana Council will act on this industrial warehouse, located on Severo Ochoa street, which has a total area of 1,200 square meters. The construction is expected to take 12 months from its commencement.
The building's design is multifunctional and will be divided into two floors. The ground floor will house workshops ranging from 25 to 100 square meters around a central courtyard, while the upper floor will be dedicated to training classrooms.
The mayor, José María Román, highlighted that this center will join existing facilities in the area, such as the Box Youth Initiatives Center and the Digital Hub, forming a "groundbreaking and innovative" package. According to Román, these new facilities will provide a main space and classrooms of various sizes, available to companies and individuals needing training to start a new career.
The mayor emphasized that the creation of this new space is "good news" for the municipality, which strives to increase employability and expand training opportunities for employment, calling the new center a "great tool for continued growth in employability".
This project complements other initiatives in the area, including the Iro Business Center of Zona Franca, the CEEI Business Center, the CADE in Pelagatos, and the Digital Coworking space on Segismundo Moret street, all aimed at creating new employment opportunities.
