The political group has detailed its initiatives to control rental prices, directly linking them to the average income of each area. This measure, announced by the candidate for the presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, seeks to address the housing problem in the region.
According to the proposal, the 20% limit is even lower than the 30% suggested by another political party. The initiative aligns with United Nations recommendations on the percentage of income families should allocate to housing, as defended by the left-wing Andalusian party.
“"It is a reduction that we believe would adapt, not to what we want, but to what the United Nations says should be the maximum money a family should dedicate to housing."
To illustrate the necessity of this regulation, the Cadiz municipality of El Puerto de Santa María was used as an example. In this locality, the average annual household income is 14,350 euros, while the monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment ranges from 900 to 1,200 euros. With the proposed formula, a rent of 1,000 euros would drop to approximately 240 euros.
“"We want to link rents to salaries. If salaries go up, rents will go up. If salaries go down, rents will have to go down."
Other parties have also presented housing proposals. Another political group has suggested limiting rent prices to a maximum of 30% of family income. Meanwhile, the candidate for the presidency of the Andalusian PSOE has announced the construction of 100,000 homes and aid for young people purchasing their first home.
