The Martos City Council has enhanced the presence of the Violet Point during local festivals this year. This initiative, aimed at preventing sexist violence and promoting safe and egalitarian celebrations, features a new tent and a completely updated graphic design. This reinforcement underscores the municipal commitment to eradicating all forms of aggression in festive spaces.
The goal of the renovation is to make this resource more visible, accessible, and approachable to citizens. The new tent improves operational conditions, providing a more suitable environment for offering information, awareness, and support to those who may need it during the festive days.
“"The Violet Point has become an essential resource during our festivals, and therefore, this government team has made a firm commitment to reinforce it, equipping it with a new image and better material resources to provide a higher quality service."
The Councillor for Equality, Ana Matilde Expósito, highlighted the Violet Point's importance as a key resource and reaffirmed the team's commitment to equipping it with better means. She emphasized that prevention and awareness should not be limited to a specific moment but must be visible throughout the entire festive program. "Our commitment to equality and the eradication of sexist violence must be visible throughout the festive program," she stated.
Expósito stressed the initiative's advocacy role, noting that the Violet Point's presence sends a clear message: festivals should be spaces of freedom for everyone, especially women, and have no place for sexism, harassment, or sexual assault. The response to sexist behavior must be collective and decisive.
In addition to serving as an attention point for potential sexual violence situations, the Violet Point carries out educational and awareness-raising work. "We want to continue advancing towards a more egalitarian society and festivals where respect is the norm. Feminism is also built through prevention, education, and the involvement of all citizens," the councillor added.
The City Council thus reaffirms its commitment to inclusive and safe festivals. The continuous presence of the Violet Point reflects the municipal will to integrate the equality perspective into leisure spaces and promote policies against sexist violence.
The councillor urged citizens to learn about and utilize this resource, describing the fight against sexist violence as a shared responsibility. "We want anyone to know that at the Violet Point, they will find information, support, and accompaniment, but also a space that symbolizes the collective commitment to free, safe, and egalitarian festivals," she concluded.
Concurrently, a nursing and childcare room will be set up to facilitate family reconciliation during the festivals, allowing families to fully enjoy the program with their children in a comfortable and equipped space.
Representatives from the Local Violence Commission and the staff who will manage the Violet Point this edition were present at the event.
