The Martos Flamenco Cultural Association has unveiled the 49th Flamenco Night, a landmark event initiating the San Bartolomé Fair and Festivals, scheduled for August 15th.

The Martos Flamenco Cultural Association has announced the 49th Flamenco Night of Martos, one of the most significant cultural events of the summer in the town and an occasion that traditionally kicks off the program for the San Bartolomé Fair and Festivals. The show will take place on Saturday, August 15th, at 10:00 PM, in the Municipal Auditorium, featuring a renowned lineup of flamenco singers and guitarists.
The official presentation included the Mayor of Martos, Emilio Torres, the Councilor for Culture, Elena Molina, and the president of the Martos Flamenco Cultural Association, Manuel López. All agreed on the event's established status, which after nearly fifty years, has become a benchmark for flamenco enthusiasts.
The Mayor highlighted the Flamenco Association's year-round work and thanked the board of directors for their efforts in keeping alive a tradition considered an essential part of Martos' cultural identity. He noted that the Flamenco Night serves as the best prelude to the San Bartolomé Fair and encouraged citizens to enjoy a spectacle that will bring together leading artists from the current flamenco scene.
For his part, Manuel López, president of the Flamenco Cultural Association, recalled that the first edition dates back to 1977 and mentioned the participation of historical flamenco figures such as Fosforito, Camarón de la Isla, El Lebrijano, Chiquetete, and Tomatito. He thanked the Ayuntamiento de Martos for its support, emphasizing that this collaboration has been crucial for the city to continuously celebrate an event that has solidified its position as one of the province's major flamenco gatherings.
López also praised the quality of this year's lineup, which features Antonio Reyes, a singer with significant projection, accompanied by Manuela Cordero, Wilo del Puerto, Macarena de Jerez, and Juan Carmona. On guitar will be Antonio Carrión, Nono Reyes, Jesule del Puerto, and Juan José “El Calao”.
The Councilor for Culture, Elena Molina, reaffirmed the City Council's commitment to promoting and preserving flamenco as a fundamental expression of Andalusian cultural heritage. She highlighted the Council's intention to continue collaborating with the association to strengthen a program that positions Martos as a leader in the dissemination of flamenco art.
