Emergency actions, carried out by the provincial administration, have improved paths connecting Villardompardo and Fuerte del Rey, as well as Arjona and Torredelcampo, routes damaged by winter storms. The Deputy of Municipal Infrastructures, José Luis Agea, visited the works alongside the mayor of Torredelcampo, Javier Chica, and the mayoress of Fuerte del Rey, Francisca Peinado.
José Luis Agea highlighted the importance of these interventions for local farmers, particularly ahead of the olive harvest season. He noted that the Provincial Council of Jaén manages 600 kilometers of roads of agricultural interest and emphasized the budgetary effort, with over 50 million euros allocated in two years for road improvements.
The majority of the investment, nearly 1.5 million euros, was allocated to repairing approximately seven kilometers of the JV-2334 road, linking Villardompardo and Fuerte del Rey. These works included the construction of a retaining wall and the adaptation of the road surface and ditches.
Additionally, 180,000 euros were invested in the JV-2338, connecting Arjona with Torredelcampo via El Berrueco. A prefabricated concrete channel was built along a 300-meter section to prevent ditch damage and potential road closures during heavy rainfall.
The mayor of Torredelcampo expressed his satisfaction, stating that the works will benefit many farmers and help mitigate the impact of intense rains. The mayoress of Fuerte del Rey thanked the council for the actions, emphasizing that they will improve farmers' communication and accessibility to cooperatives.
