Since the aid procedure was launched, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has processed requests aimed at providing direct, non-refundable financial support. Of the approved applications, 18 have already been paid, while the remaining 118 are currently in the provisional approval phase.
The breakdown of pending requests includes 72 files corresponding to relatives of the deceased and 46 to those injured in the incident. The latter cases are currently awaiting the conclusion of a ten-day period granted for submitting claims before final payment is processed.
The initiative, supported by Royal Decree-law 1/2026, aims to reduce the financial uncertainty of those affected. The program is compatible with mandatory traveler insurance and other public or private coverage. Furthermore, the deadline for submitting new applications has been extended until June 4th, 2026, for the injured and indirect victims.
