The Governing Council of the Junta de Andalucía has been informed of the completion of the works at the wastewater treatment plant (EDAR) in Ugíjar, situated in the Alpujarra region of Granada. The total investment allocated by the regional administration for this hydraulic project has surpassed 977,000 euros.
The primary objective of this initiative was twofold: firstly, to implement a biological process to increase the EDAR's efficiency and ensure the quality of the discharged water; and secondly, to establish a system for the elimination of odors. These improvements address the demands of the local population.
The new facilities, which are more modern than those built in 2005, are capable of treating 310 cubic meters of water daily, serving approximately 1,300 inhabitants. The project included the installation of a double line of rotating biological contactors and an electrical and remote control system to optimize operations.
Additionally, a cover has been installed on the anaerobic lagoons with a programmed ventilation system to prevent gases from being directed towards the populated areas.
