The Borreguiles cable car, located at an altitude of 2,700 meters, will extend its hours on Tuesday, August 11. After its usual summer daytime service, it will reopen at 9:00 PM and operate until 1:45 AM the following day, allowing for observation programs of the phenomenon known as the Tears of San Lorenzo.
The operation of the lift and astronomical programs will intensify on Wednesday, August 12. The cable car will be operational almost continuously from 9:30 AM until 1:45 AM, although specific tickets will be required for different activities.
For August 12, an ordinary day and eclipse ticket will be offered, available online or at ticket machines until 6:00 PM. This ticket will grant access to hiking and mountain routes, as well as free eclipse observation at Borreguiles. It is recommended to descend to Pradollano from 9:00 PM onwards to prepare the area for Perseids observation. Additionally, a Perseids ticket will be available, sold exclusively with the Perseids Basic Package, valid between 9:00 PM and 1:45 AM.
Astronomical observation programs for the Perseids and the Solar Eclipse can now be purchased on the Sierra Nevada online store. Although spots for the Solar Eclipse Program are sold out, access to Borreguiles will be possible with a cable car ticket for free observation. Certified glasses for eye protection will be available at the Sierra Nevada store in the Borreguiles gallery.
Throughout the rest of the week, the mountain resort has scheduled other celestial activities, including Sunset at Veleta on August 15, Discover the Sky of Sierra Nevada (also on August 15), a Daytime Visit to the Observatory on the same day, and Sunrise at Veleta on August 16.
