The operation began around 05:15 hours after the Civil Guard received an urgent alert from 112 about a car overturning near Calle Alta in Soportújar, with several people trapped inside.
A patrol from the Civil Guard Post in Órgiva immediately responded. The search for the vehicle was complicated by the steep terrain, darkness, and dense vegetation. With the help of a neighbor who heard the impact, officers located the car, which had fallen about 20 meters and was suspended by branches and two young poplar trees.
Officers attempted to communicate with the occupants and heard a woman's voice and a child crying. The woman informed them that she was inside with her four-year-old son and that her partner was unconscious.
Given the risk, one of the officers accessed the vehicle despite its instability. The deformation of the chassis and doors made opening it difficult. The Civil Guard officer climbed onto the vehicle and, after warning the occupants to protect themselves, broke a door window with a tool and removed the glass fragments to create a safe exit.
Thanks to this action, and with the mother's cooperation, the officer first extracted the four-year-old child, bringing him to safety under the protection of another officer. He then assisted the mother, managing to extract her from the cabin after difficult maneuvers.
A 36-year-old man remained unconscious inside. The officer re-entered the cabin to check his condition, confirming he was breathing and reacting slightly when called by name.
Around 06:15 hours, medical personnel and firefighters arrived. They used hydraulic tools to free the third occupant due to the vehicle's deformation. Officers from the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard in Motril also participated in the operation.
Due to access difficulties, the man had to be transported about 300 meters by emergency services and officers to the location of the ambulance. All three occupants were eventually taken to a medical center in Órgiva.
The Civil Guard highlighted the immediate response capability of its Citizen Security patrols, whose agents take initial aid measures even in challenging and risky scenarios, ensuring coordination with other emergency services.
