Vox Consolidates Growth in Almería and Huelva, but Loses Ground in Other Andalusian Provinces

Santiago Abascal's party increases its vote share in agricultural and coastal areas, but is overtaken by other forces in Cádiz and Granada.

Vox has seen a slight increase in Andalusia in the recent regional elections, surpassing half a million votes and securing 15 seats, with significant gains in the provinces of Almería and Huelva.

The results of the recent Andalusian elections grant Vox a key negotiation position for the investiture of Juanma Moreno as president of the regional government, despite a modest percentage growth. The party has surpassed 576,000 votes, representing 13.82% of the total, an increase of 0.35 percentage points compared to the 2022 elections. This rise translates into an additional seat, bringing their representation to 15 regional deputies.
The most significant advance for the party led by Santiago Abascal has been concentrated in the provinces of Almería and Huelva. In Almería, Vox has increased its vote share by 2.47 points, reaching 23.19% and securing three parliamentary representatives. Its position as the leading force in Rioja, a municipality near the capital, is noteworthy.
The province of Huelva has also shown a notable increase, with a rise of 2.09 percentage points to 14.86%. This has allowed Vox to obtain a second deputy in the province, accumulating a total of 36,378 votes.
In contrast, Vox has experienced a decline in the provinces of Granada and Cádiz. In the latter, the party has been surpassed by Adelante Andalucía, despite a slight increase in the absolute number of votes. In Granada, although they retain two seats, their percentage of support has decreased.
The drop in Seville, with a 0.65% decrease, and increased participation in major urban centers have limited more widespread growth. However, in Málaga, Vox achieved a 1.02 percentage point increase, securing two deputies with over 108,000 votes.
The analysis of the results reveals that Vox's growth is concentrated in agricultural and coastal areas, often linked to immigration and employment in intensive farming. Conversely, increased participation in provincial capitals and the push from other left-wing forces have curbed their advance in other regions.
The fifteen elected deputies for Vox in Andalusia are: in Almería, Rodrigo Javier Alonso Fernández, Clotilde Salvador Sánchez, and Juan José Bosquet Arias; in Cádiz, Manuel Gavira Florentino and Noelia María Campos Rodríguez; in Córdoba, Paula Badanelli Berriozábal; in Granada, Beatriz Sánchez Agustino and Ricardo López Olea; in Huelva, Rafael Segovia Brome and María Goretti Eiberle Sánchez de Toca; in Jaén, Benito Morillo Alejo; in Málaga, Antonio Sevilla Rodríguez and Rocío Marín Ortega; and in Seville, Javier Cortés Lucena and Cristina Peláez Izquierdo.
In Córdoba and Jaén, Vox also registered percentage increases, obtaining one deputy in each province and consolidating its territorial presence.
