The undergrounding works in Almería show remarkable progress, especially in the areas near the train and bus stations. The main building of the station and the new bus terminal have already reached roof level, allowing for the initiation of interior installation and enclosure works.
The platform structures, visible from Avenida Sierra Alhamilla, are highly advanced, offering a glimpse of the future arrival area for high-speed trains. The station is being renovated and expanded to 4,800 square meters, distributed over two floors, to accommodate the increase in railway traffic. Additionally, a new 2,265 square meter bus station is being built in a secondary section, forming an intermodal hub.
Concurrently, an underground car park with capacity for up to 400 vehicles is being constructed beneath the bus station. This parking facility, which will have access points for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, is currently in the process of configuring its interior structure, progressing smoothly.
The railway integration in the capital includes a new underground route spanning 1,898 meters, whose excavation was recently completed. Currently, the phases of channeling, drainage, and track assembly are underway. This tunnel will facilitate the arrival of high-speed rail to Almería station with a double track, allowing for the circulation of both high-speed and conventional trains.
On the surface, the high-speed line will connect to Almería station, which will feature six tracks. Beyond the station area, works are also progressing on Avenida del Mediterráneo and Camino de la Goleta, where the first roundabouts have begun to be installed. These will redistribute traffic and improve mobility in the area. This project represents a major transformation for the city, bridging the area previously divided by the railway line.
