The bar, located on Lima Street in Almería, first opened its doors in 2009, a challenging time for the economy. Back then, the neighborhood lacked the dynamism it has today, making the opening a risky venture. Despite initial difficulties, the venue has maintained its identity, evoking the atmosphere of a traditional tavern.
“"I had a little experience in hospitality, but not much."
The business concept emerged more from intuition than a structured plan, aiming to recreate the ambiance of a lifelong tavern. This vision has remained unchanged, resisting the temptation of major alterations and preserving its original essence. The economic crisis of the time was a determining factor in its early days, forcing management to focus on survival.
Initially, the establishment experimented with takeout food, but soon returned to its distinctive offering: tapas, portions, and a carefully selected range of wines. Although they offer a variety of options, the house specialty is meat tapas, differentiating themselves from the predominant fish offerings in the area.
“"We have everything, but our specialty is meat tapas, because fish is everywhere else."
The bar has cultivated a neighborhood clientele, creating a bustling and welcoming atmosphere where conversations intertwine, and people feel at home. Within its walls, adorned with photographs that tell its story, friendships have been forged, and countless gatherings celebrated. The wine selection is varied, with vermouth standing out as a deeply rooted tradition among its customers.
The establishment's menu has evolved over time, adapting to tastes without losing its identity. Dishes like the 'presa', once presented simply, now incorporate more complex preparations, reflecting the kitchen's spirit of experimentation. This capacity for adaptation has been key to its success, keeping meat as the central focus of its gastronomic proposal.
Looking to the future, the bar's management contemplates the business's continuity with the same serenity with which it has faced each stage. The vision is for the place to remain a meeting point, a space where tables hold the memories of its customers and conversations flow, keeping alive the essence that has characterized it for years.
