Audiovisual production companies based in the province of Almería have until August 26th to register their proposals for the contest. This call seeks to encourage the creation of film and audiovisual works to be shot in the Almería region, thereby enriching the cultural heritage of the area.
This year's edition offers a total of 43,300 euros in prizes. The funding is divided into two main categories: feature films and short films. Two awards will be given for feature film projects, including the Kiko Medina Award with 18,000 euros and a second prize of 10,600 euros. For short films, the Kiko Medina Award is 8,500 euros, and the second prize is 6,200 euros.
“"The great opportunity that this FICAL contest represents for Almerian authors and producers to bring their projects to life. With this initiative, we provide support and resources to our filmmakers so they can transform their ideas into a finished audiovisual work."
Almudena Morales, Vice President and Deputy of Culture, Cinema, and Almerian Identity, highlighted the event's importance as a platform for local filmmakers to materialize their ideas. Past editions have been positive, and there is confidence that this competition will continue to boost homegrown audiovisual production.
Each production company can submit up to two projects. Applications will be processed exclusively electronically through the electronic headquarters of the Provincial Council of Almería. The full terms and conditions, along with the application forms, are available on the official website of the Provincial Council.
