The closing ceremony of the UAL Debate Club's academic year took place in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences. This initiative, promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Students, has established itself as an essential environment for the development of communication skills, leadership, and critical analysis.
Sources from the UAL have highlighted the club's growth in recent years and the active participation of the UAL Debate Association in organizing tournaments and activities for both university and pre-university students. The inaugural panel included the Vice-Rector for Students, along with the club's trainers, who have led the training sessions throughout the course.
“"The Debate Club is fundamental for students to acquire transversal competencies. Learning to argue and critically analyze information is an essential tool in the current social context and for professional success."
One of the most notable moments of the day was the Final Debate, which addressed the controversial question: "Should social media be banned for minors under 16?". Several students participated, demonstrating a high level of argumentation before the audience.
The team that defended the position in favor of the ban emerged victorious, thanks to the solidity of their arguments and their persuasive ability. The event concluded in an atmosphere of camaraderie, with a raffle of t-shirts among attendees.
With this closing, the Debate Club of the University of Almería concludes another year, reaffirming its role as a comprehensive training space for students and as a breeding ground for future speakers, communicators, and professionals committed to dialogue and critical thinking.
