The plenary session to formalize the investiture of José Antonio Visiedo as the new mayor is scheduled for next Saturday. This move occurs without apparent tensions between the governing partners, the Popular Party and Turre para la Gente, which ran under the umbrella of Izquierda Unida.
Grima's resignation materializes an agreement reached after the no-confidence motion in October 2023, which removed socialist María Isabel López from the mayor's office. This pact established an alternation in the position, allowing Grima to lead the council until now, one year before the next municipal elections.
“"For my part, I will fulfill it."
The former mayor expressed his gratitude to his colleagues from the Popular Party, highlighting the "great work in economic and social terms" carried out in the municipality of Levante Almeriense, although he acknowledged that "all management is improvable." He also had words of thanks for David and former mayor Martín Morales, from Turre para la Gente, emphasizing that "there have been no fissures" in the coalition.
The socialist spokesperson and former mayor, María Isabel López, stated that "agreements are meant to be kept" and that, although this pact did not directly affect them, she valued that politics during Grima's mayoralty had been conducted "with respect."
The alliance between the PP and IU, described by the PSOE as "dark" and "against nature" at the time, led to the expulsion of Martín Morales and David Ruiz from Izquierda Unida, becoming unattached councilors. Subsequently, Morales resigned his position and was replaced by Visiedo, who did not participate in the no-confidence motion, which now allows him to assume the mayoralty as he remains affiliated with the left-wing party.
With the investiture of José Antonio Visiedo, Turre begins a new stage under the same government pact, marking the continuity of a management that, according to those involved, seeks the "unblocking" and progress of the municipality.
