A man has been injured in the arm by a firearm in the town of Huércal de Almería on Wednesday night. The injured man had to be taken to the Torrecárdenas University Hospital by his family. Some residents of the municipality, where a similar altercation occurred two years ago, claim to have heard up to five shots.
According to sources from the unified emergency service 112 Andalucía and others close to the investigation, several people alerted authorities around 10:30 PM after hearing several shots on Jacinto Benavente street. Some testimonies suggest that those involved had a dispute earlier that day in a nearby supermarket.
Paramedics, Civil Guard, and Local Police were dispatched to the scene, but upon arrival, none of the alleged individuals involved were still present. The injured man had left the area minutes before to go to the hospital, reportedly transported in a private car by his relatives.
Initial investigations suggest that the confrontation may have started around 9:30 PM in the vicinity of a supermarket near the scene. No arrests have been made so far, and the victim is reported to be out of danger.
The investigation also aims to determine if this new incident is related to another shooting that occurred two years ago on the same street. On that occasion, a young man of about 22 years old was injured by a firearm and taken to a hospital in Granada after an altercation involving several people. That incident took place in broad daylight, a few minutes after 12:00 PM, also on Jacinto Benavente street.
Neighbors at the time stated that several of the alleged involved parties fled the scene in a vehicle and that, the previous night, an altercation between two families, potentially related, had already occurred. In the preceding days, a stabbing had also been reported in the same neighborhood.
While the investigation continues, both the Civil Guard and the Local Police have increased surveillance in the area to prevent further confrontations. No incidents have been detected today, and no arrests have been made.
